I bought this for my son who was doing a Darwin project at school. The Darwin film was fantastic at explaining the man and what he did in the simplest possible terms. We watched the other scientists too and my son still remembers it all. Very effective and a good idea. (Posted on 08/12/2009)

The Now You Know DVDs have proved to be a wonderful resource for us as a home educating family. They are just as entertaining and informative for the adults as for the children! Also they provide a really good beginning to further research into each character portrayed. Hurry up and produce more please! Although the price might seem a bit high I would still recommend these DVDs as they will be watched again and again. 10/10 (Posted on 07/12/2009)

I found this site through a friend's recommendation. My son was doing a project on Darwin and the Darwin film was the perfect starting-point. It's really simple and not at all high-tech but in my view, this made it very easy for my son to follow and remember. We watched the others too and his favourite was Isaac Newton because it was quite funny and colourful. Good voiceover, too. (Posted on 19/11/2009)

I bought this because I'm interested in fun learning stuff for my children (8 and 10) and it has been a huge success in our family. It's made of short little stories about famous people - I don't think children learn about Louis Pasteur and Marie Curie in school! - and it's just the right length, about 10 minutes, so the kids don't get bored AND they learn about the life of a famous scientist. Our favourite was Charles Darwin as he was bad at school and never did any work! One great thing about these stories is that they lead into a visit to a museum. My children were very keen to see the fossils Darwin brought back at the National History museum and we always check that our milk is 'pasteurised' now that we know why it's called that. Great buy.
